Ed Tilling is the Student and Young Adults Worker at St. John’s, Newlands in Hull. He has taken over the role from his predecessor Mikey Helen.
Ed says:
"Since I first walked through the door at St John's almost three years ago I have been blessed to see the student ministry blossom, grow and bear much fruit under the hard work and dedication of my predecessor Mikey, alongside the wonderful support and guidance that Multiply offers.
I have been privileged to not only support many student-focused events, but also to deepen my own faith and branch out in ways I had never thought possible. Alongside my full-time job at the University of Hull, I have been able to further my passion for supporting students through preaching, prayer ministry, and helping to run a diverse array of events, from weekends away to welcome week plant giveaways, small groups and meals.
As the current (volunteer) Student & Young Adults worker at St John's, I have tried to combine my job at the University with support for the chaplaincy on campus, through contributing to and helping plan collaborative events - such as a carol service for students and staff - alongside AST Church and the Christian Union. Whilst we're just beginning this chaplaincy journey, it has been a rewarding start and I'm excited to see how God moves through this, and where else He leads, at the University of Hull.
I try to always be on hand to offer support and guidance for students at the St. John's Sunday morning service and can be reached via email throughout the week at sjnstudents@outlook.com (I try to respond asap! Students are also more than welcome to say hi if they ever spot me on campus!) - I love to try and help if ever I'm needed :)
I don't want to ever stop learning and challenging myself on my faith journey, and it brings me great joy to help and encourage others on theirs. Multiply's guidance has been invaluable here, and it is really exciting to see how the student ministry in Hull will grow and develop as we move into 2025 (and beyond!)."
